What People's Say About Place

I stopped by Amelie at 4 when they opened for happy hour. I wanted to try a few different things and their happy hour prices were the best for that as. I haven’t really had escargots before so I was dying to have them lol the restaurant itself is on the smaller side but it feels very intimate and nice! We got a few of the appetizers. The warm pistachio crusted goat cheese ball and the baked Camembert were sooo good to me!! I absolutely loved how rich and creamy the cheese was. The waiter was also kind enough to keep bringing us bread every time we ran out lol We also tried the beef tartare. I’ve never had it before and I really liked it, although, it was a bit more on the spicier side and my friend didn’t really like that. The escargots were interesting! It was packed with butter and herbs, we dipped the bread in it and it was delicious! The escargot itself didn’t really have much flavor or texture but it wasn’t bad at all. We also wanted to try a dish so we shared the Coq Au Vin which was the red wine braised chicken legs. That was amazing! The chicken and veggies in it were just soo tender and the sauce itself was rich and flavorful. I also had a wine flight of the light reds to go with everything and I was very happy with it. To finish off, we had creme brûlée which you can never go wrong with. It wasn’t too sweet and tasted really good. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here. I think one of the main things I appreciated about them was that whenever I’d go on their site to see special- it was always updated. Anytime they add or change anything to menu, it’s on their website. Usually I have to go full FBI mode to see what the menu is at some places haha.

A charming French UWS spot with a single row of booth seating. Serving classics such as escargot, pate, mussels and duck breast. The service was good, place is a loud for conversations. Some local New Yorker celebrities occassionally frequent the establishment, a semi private table in the back offer maybe six degrees of privacy.

What an amazing find! We were exploring the area and looking for a good wine bar—and stumbled upon this nice little French bistro. The wine selection was impressive, and we arrived just in time for happy hour. We tried both the Cold Aromatic Whites and Mineral Whites wine flights, which were absolutely delightful. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was exceptional—attentive. I had the Salat Amélie, which was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The burger was also fantastic—juicy, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. This is easily one of the best bistros I’ve been to in NYC. Highly recommended, and I’ll definitely be back!

I’ve been to this restaurant many times and always walk out both happy and stuffed. The wine selection is good and seasonal specials like the braised beef were exceptional. I get the escargot every time.

It is restaurant week, Food was amazing! We made reservations, so there was no wait. Service very attentive. Great spot!

We stumbled upon this charming bistro after watching a show nearby. I was in the mood for some food while my dining party wanted some drinks and snacks, and this turned out to be the perfect spot for us. The duck breast was to die for; it was tender and flavorful, and the sweet summer corn was a nice touch. The chicken liver mousse was smooth and tasty, even for someone that isn’t a big fan of chicken liver. The evening concluded with getting to know the owner, Olivier, and us walking away with one of the best French meals we had in the city!

Amélie is a wonderful little spot on the Upper West Side—that much is already well known. What truly stood out this time was how lively it was even with a major snowstorm looming just hours away and frigid temperatures outside. The space kept filling up, with and without reservations. The bar, tables, and even side tables were all occupied. While waiting in the narrow corridor leading into the restaurant wasn’t ideal, everything else more than made up for it. The wine selection was excellent—I had a Syrah ($15) and my friend enjoyed a glass of Montepulciano ($20). The food was equally satisfying: French onion soup for me and the Amélie Burger for my friend. Service was attentive and warm throughout. I only wish we’d had more time to fully enjoy the ambiance, but we had to rush off to a nearby concert hall. Still, a great experience overall.

+ Get $25 off using the link on my profile! Was surprised to see so many people here during happy hour! If you want a table, make sure to get a reservation no matter how early. The wine flight was nice and the finger food went very well with it.
